- V Horror and Fantastic Film Festival of Estepona, September 2004.
We was so happy that "Deadhunter: Sevillian Zombies" was in the official selection this year, but the competition was very hard, and we had no Award, anyway to fight versus "Bubba Ho-Tep" was an honour. Besides, the audience enjoyed very much the two screenings of the Julián Lara´s movie. It was on Wednesday September 15th, 2004. The posters of "Deadhunter: Sevillian Zombies" disappeared from the hall of the cinema, but before being signed by Julián Lara, and then people ran away with them. Bruce Campbell could not come but he was awarded with the Silver Unicorn for the Best Actor and Brian Yuzna was in Estepona for the Award given to him: the Waldemar Daninsky.

- IX Fantastic Film Festival of Alcalá de Henares, September 2004.
Our friends in Alcalá de Henares requested the horror movies director from Alcalá de Guadaíra: Julián Lara, so they screened his feature film "Deadhunter: Sevillian Zombies". Julián was so sorry because he couldn´t attend to the Festival; he was in the Horror Film Festival of Estepona, anyway we want to thank Pedro Toro for requesting our movie to the Festival and Lydia Gargo for introduce the movie to the audience.
- X Fantastic Film Festival of Bilbao, May 2004.
Julián did a trip to Bilbao invited by the organizers of the Festival to attend here and present his short "Evil Night", and so he did, it was a crazy weekend where Julián slept, ate and drank so little!! Julián was so tired because the former days he had been shooting in Madrid a movie for Leonardo Dantés. Tinieblas was there again and showed us the best places in the night of Bilbao next to Nacho Vigalondo, who Julián also could met in Bilbao. Returning to home, Julián could talk a while in the airport with Nacho Vidal, about a short film they´ll shoot in a few months.
- VII Horror and Fantastic Film Festival of Cáceres, March 2004.
To the end of March, Julián and Mary Pain spent a couple of days in the beautiful city of Cáceres, to attend the Festival where Julián could present and show the trailer of "Deadhunter: Sevillian Zombies", a very funny presentation, due to the mood of Julián, as usual, and we met there again some friends like Tinieblas González and we could meet Diego Morán, director of the Festival, who were so nice with us.
Julián Lara in Cáceres with an issue of Monster World in his hands that dedicates him an article.
- XIV Horror and Fantastic Film Festival of Málaga, March 2004.
The Deadhunter Team headed by Julián Lara took the highway to Málaga in the first days of March for the opening of the Festival and the weekend for the double scheduled program by Julián Lara, because they were screening "Evil Night" and "Deadhunter: Sevillian Zombies" together for the first time. And also for the first time the long version of 38 minutes of "Evil Night" was screened into a Festival. The cinema was full, and after the Julián Lara´s presentation, courtesy of Ramón Reina, director of the Festival, the audience enjoyed the short and the feature films.
- Bloodchalker International Horror Film Festival, Toronto, Canadá, Febrero 2004.
Julián could not go to that Festival in Canadá and present his short "EvilNight", by the moment is the first International Horror Film Festival where has participated. No award received, or it didn´t arrived yet to us...
- International Festival of Sitges, Brigadoon, December 2003.
To Barcelona was going Julián Lara with Mary Pain to show his awarded short in the Brigadoon section, inside the Imagen Death Marathon by our big friend Javier Perea. Beyond the screening of "Evil Night" Julián could show the trailer of "Deadhunter: Sevillian Zombies" and was interviewed by a couple of television stations. Julián was in the right place to know people like Brian Yuzna or Ángel Sala who show his interest for watch the sequel..."Deadhunter 2: Patera of the Dead".
- XIV Horror Film Festival of San Sebastián, November 2003.
Julián was packing the suitcases next to Mary Pain to spent a week in San Sebastián, where they presented the magazine "Dead Side", and also share lunch, dinner and Jack Daniels-Cola with their good friends Manolo Valencia, Javier Perea, Tinieblas González, and some others; along that week was done an underhand screening of the unfinished "Deadhunter: Sevillian Zombies" in the Bar La Iguana at high night hours due to the insistence of our friend Perea, who came with Eduardo Bajo Ulloa, Juanma´s brother, whom also Julián could meet this days. During the screening at he bar we was gratefully surprised to have among us Amaia, the singer of the band La Oreja de Van Gogh, who was having a drink with a friend. But the hot point came on Friday night, crazy and only night in the Festival where after some screenings, and meeting good people as Manuel Manquiña or Silvia Superstar, lead vocal of the Killer Barbies, arrived the Julián Lara´s moment to step up to the stage to show a work in progress of "Deadhunter: Sevillian Zombies" he showed the cameos of Leonardo Dantés and Kiko Veneno, great! the audience began to do the dance of the handkerchief, they could not believe what they was seeing on the screen.
- Certamen Eurovídeo Unicaja, Málaga, October 2003.
It was a surprise to all of us that "Evil Night" was selected in a non-Horror Festival, but because Julián is always submitting his movies everywhere, it´s normal. There was a competition, but we didn´t win anything. This time Julián Lara could not attend the Festival for personal reasons.
- IV Horror and Fantastic Film Festival of Estepona, September 2003.
Something unexpected happened for the "Evil Night" Team, at last the short film was entering in competition, just for that we all were so much happy, but what amazed us was to win the Award "Silver Unicorn" for the Best Short Film. First, and by the moment, the only one Award. So emotioned Julián took the Award from the hands of the pretty Belinda Wasington. The awarded director was here with his loved Mary Pain, his parents and Darío Herrero. Also Julián could meet Dario Argento and interview him for the "2000 Maníacos" magazine of his friend Manolo Valencia.
- Festival Audiovisual Zemos 98.5, El Viso del Alcor, Sevilla, January 2003.
So close to Alcalá de Guadaíra, where Julián Lara lives, in this Festival "Evil Night" was screened in an out of competition section, bu at least the audience coul enjoy the short film. That was the first screening for the staff after the premiere so they were a bit nervous.
- VI Horror Film Festival of Toledo, December 2002.
There was the first public screening of "Evil Night", on 5th December, the premiere was on December 27th in Alcalá de Guadaíra. Here Julián could meet Javier Perea, director of the event, a big guy. After the screening Julián was required to sign a few autographs (the first ones), he could not believe it. Besides, Julián made friendship with LLoyd Kaufman, the president of Troma; also Julián was his interpreter during the Festival. - XIII Horror Film Festival of San Sebastián, November 2002.
Here Julián could show "Evil Night" in a private show with the presence of Jess Franco, Lina Romay, Santiago Segura, Manolo Valencia, Hernán y Berta, among others, so from here we want to express our thankfulness to José Luis Rebordinos for his kindness acceding to do the private show. But why a private show? Because in the middle of the Festival was when Julián had finished the editing, and logically there was no way to enter in competition, but at least the short could be shown. Julián could meet Tony Timpone, the Fangoria USA editor, who Julian contacted by e-mail to meet there. Tony is a very kind guy and we sent him "Evil Night" to NYC. -
III Horror and Fantastic Film Festival of Estepona, September 2002.
This
was the first Julián Lara´s contact with a Fantastic Film Festival, a
month ago Julián had just finished the shooting of "Evil
Night", but he went to Estepona with the hope of meet the people
and to be known for the people, only with his promotional T-shirt of "Evil
Night" and the red contact lenses used in the shooting of the short.
People paid attention, and he could meet, among others, Julio Peces, director
of the Festival, who treated us so kind, we also meet Paul Naschy, Ray
Harrihausen and Pepe Parejo, who for this time was the director of the
spanish edition of "Fangoria", now he´s directing "Fandom", then Julián
went back home with the hope to participate the next year.
